Went up before six to catch the fog sitting in the valley. It lifted faster than the forecast promised, which is the usual outcome. Two rolls of HP5, one of them probably underexposed in the first hour.
Note to self: the old fence line halfway up is gone. The path is now marked with small cairns, easy to miss in low light.
The 50mm has developed a lazy aperture blade. It closes, eventually. Shooting wide open for the rest of the summer, which suits the weather anyway.
The repair shop in town says three weeks. I will believe it when I see it.
Changing bag, one tank, a thermometer that may or may not be accurate. The negatives came out thin but usable. Water here is hard, so a final rinse in distilled water saved the frames from drying marks.
Total time from loading to hanging: about forty minutes. Much less mysterious than expected.
Short days, long shadows. The best hour is now around three in the afternoon, and it is gone before you have finished a roll.
